Governor Haley Barbour applauds members of the Legislature for quickly passing several bills crucial to the development of a new Toyota Motor Corporation plant in Tupelo that will provide more than 2,000 jobs for Mississippians.

While presenting his FY 2008 Budget Proposals, Governor Barbour explains that "despite bearing the brunt of the worst natural disaster in American history, we have dug out of a $720 million budget hole, provided the largest four-year increase ever for K-12 education, increased funding for community colleges and universities, and balanced the budget – all without raising anybody’s taxes."


October 31, 2006

Governor Haley Barbour meets with members of the Ocean Springs school board at the Mississippi School Board Association's Fall Leadership Conference in Jackson. The Governor detailed his education budget proposals and 2007 education agenda, calling for a 7 percent increase in education funding.


October 24, 2006

Governor Barbour visits with Dr. Arvern Moore, past president of the MS Head Start Association, at the Early Childhood Summit which targeted issues involving school readiness and focused on strategies and implementation to promote school success.


October 12, 2006

Governor Barbour makes a stop at the Hattiesburg Clinic to tout the two year success of the 2004 Tort Reform bill.  Governor Barbour is joined by doctors and administrators of the clinic.

Governor Haley Barbour is flanked by legislators, local officials and representatives of the Magee General Hospital as he prepares to sign legislation providing bonds to help the hospital expand.
