The Governor was first to sign this special made "Katrina Chopper," designed by Bill Bacell and Phillip Boler, owner of Oasis Cycles in Brandon, and handpainted by Paul Miller.  The motorcycle will be auctioned off to raise money for hurricane recovery efforts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Governor announced that he set aside $50 million in state-administered federal grants to mitigate an expected increase in the cost of insurance to consumers under “wind pool” policies, which are funded through customer premiums and assessments from every insurance company in Mississippi.

Governor Haley Barbour is joined by Dave Calhoun, vice chairman of the General Electric Company, and Dr. Herbert King from Mississippi State University to announce the company's alliance with MSU to manufacture jet engine components.
