BARBOUR: PK USA TO CREATE 150 JOBS WITH NEW PLANT IN SENATOBIA

Company is third Toyota supplier to announce location in Miss.

(JACKSON, Mississippi) – Governor Haley Barbour announced today that PK USA will build a new stamping and welding assembly manufacturing plant in Senatobia, a $35 million investment that will create 150 jobs for Mississippians. PK USA’s new facility, which will serve Toyota and other Japanese automotive companies and suppliers in the state, becomes the third announced supplier for the Toyota plant currently under construction in Blue Springs.

“I am pleased that PK USA has selected Senatobia for its latest expansion project,” Governor Barbour said. “PK USA joins more than 90 other automotive manufacturing, distribution and supplier companies operating in Mississippi. The company will be a strong asset as we continue to position the state as a major competitor in the automotive industry.”

The new facility, to be named PK USA-Senatobia Plant, will be the company’s second expansion in Mississippi since 2005, when PK USA opened an assembly operation in Canton. Production at the Senatobia plant is expected to begin by 2010, with about 150 jobs created and an initial investment of $35 million in the state. The Senatobia plant marks PK USA’s eighth expansion since it began operations in the United States in 1989.

“We are very excited about this new addition to our industrial community in Senatobia and Tate County. PK USA is a strong company who will create significant employment opportunities for this area,” said Janie Mortimer, executive director of the Tate County Economic Development Foundation. “We appreciate the cooperation of our state, city and county governments and Entergy in working with our local economic development organization to meet the needs of this project as they searched for their new location.”

“The City of Senatobia worked closely with this company and we are extremely pleased that they have chosen the Senatobia, Tate County, location for their new facility. PK USA will be an excellent fit in our community and we look forward to their future growth here,” said Alan Callicott, mayor, City of Senatobia.
