STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR

Regarding Veterans Day

“Since November 11, 1918, when documents were signed to end hostilities in World War I, Americans have recognized the importance of memorializing the contributions and sacrifices made by our veterans. On the anniversary of this armistice, Marsha and I salute veterans from Mississippi and across the nation for their patriotism and courage; we are forever grateful for their efforts to keep America free from oppression and for their role in protecting the fundamental right of U.S. citizens: freedom.

To honor the vast contributions made by our veterans, state offices will be closed on Monday, November 12, 2007. Marsha and I hope you will keep all our veterans and their families in your thoughts and prayers on this special day.”
