GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR ORDERS FLAGS TO FLY AT HALF STAFF
IN HONOR OF MISSISSIPPI OFFICIALS
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today ordered the National and State Flags at the New State Capitol Building to be flown at half staff in remembrance of two long-time Mississippi public servants, State Senator Bunky Huggins and former Congressman G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery.
“The State of Mississippi mourns the loss of both Senator Huggins and Congressman Montgomery. In honor of their life and service to our State, I am directing the Department of Finance and Administration to lower the flags at the Capitol Building to half staff,” Governor Barbour said.
The flags will be flown at half staff today, May 12, in memory of Senator Huggins, and on Tuesday, May 16, in memory of former Congressman Montgomery.
