GOVERNOR BARBOUR DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY IN
19 MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES
Gov. Haley Barbour today declared a State of Emergency in several Mississippi counties devastated by severe storms March 8 and 9.
The counties affected include: Adams, Clarke, Greene, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lauderdale, Lee, Lincoln, Lowndes, Newton, Rankin, Stone, Panola, Pike, Wayne, Wilkinson and Yazoo. The State of Emergency order allows emergency responders to efficiently utilize resources and receive state aid to respond to the emergency situation.
“These storms, because of their duration and intensity, have caused serious flooding that have made some roadways impassable,” Gov. Barbour said.
