GOVERNOR BARBOUR SIGNS SENATE BILL 3214
Governor Haley Barbour today signed Senate Bill 3214, restricting the use of federal funds to pay for most abortions under the new federal health care law.
The Senate bill prohibits the public funding of abortion in any health exchanges that will be created in 2014 if the federal health care law signed by President Obama this year is fully implemented.
“Mississippi continues to be the safest place to be an unborn child in America today,” Governor Barbour said. “This bill ensures that taxpayers’ money will not fund abortions if the health insurance exchanges are implemented under the federal health care law.”
