GOVERNOR BARBOUR’S MISSISSIPPI STIMULUS SUMMIT
WILL BE THURSDAY IN JACKSON
Governor Haley Barbour has invited state agency heads, legislators and local government officials as well as the public to participate in a Mississippi Stimulus Summit on Thursday, April 16, 2009. The summit is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. at the Jackson Convention Complex following the annual meeting of the Mississippi Economic Council; no reservations are necessary.
At the summit, participants will discuss ways the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will impact Mississippi. Presenters will be state agency directors from several areas, including the Mississippi Development Authority, the State Department of Education, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Human Services, Department of Public Safety, Department of Employment Security, Department of Transportation and others.
The summit will be broadcast at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, on Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s high-definition and standard-definition channels.
The economic stimulus bill provides supplemental federal appropriations for infrastructure investment, education, energy efficiency and science, assistance to unemployed workers, state and local fiscal stabilization, and other purposes. More information can be found at stimulus.ms.gov.
