GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR ORDERS FLAG TO FLY AT HALF STAFF
IN HONOR OF REP. MAY WHITTINGTON
(Jackson, Mississippi)-Governor Haley Barbour has ordered that the State Flag at the New State Capitol Building be flown at half staff on Saturday, July 15, 2006, in remembrance of a dedicated Mississippi public servant, State Representative May Whittington.
“As a licensed counselor, May Whittington had great insight into important family issues, and she was a champion of women’s and children’s causes during her years of service,” Governor Barbour said. “She strongly supported historic preservation efforts in the state as well. Her tenure was marked by a genuine concern for Mississippi’s at-risk citizens, and we will miss her.”
