GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR FILLS DISTRICT ATTORNEY VACANCY

 

(Jackson, Mississippi) - Governor Haley Barbour today appointed Assistant District Attorney Hal Kittrell to serve the remainder of an unexpired term as District Attorney in Mississippi's 15th Circuit Court District, which includes Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion, and Pearl River counties.

 

Kittrell will serve out the term of District Attorney Buddy McDonald, who resigned effective December 31, 2006.

 

“Hal's years of legal experience have been marked by a high degree of personal integrity and a total commitment to the law. I know he will be an asset to the people of the 15th Circuit Court District as he continues his dedicated service," Governor Haley Barbour said.

 

Kittrell has served as Assistant District Attorney in the 15th Circuit Court District since 2000. Kittrell is a bar commissioner of the Mississippi Bar Association and is a member of the character and fitness committee for the Mississippi Board of Bar Admissions. He holds a membership in the Prosecutors Association and the Marion County Bar Association.

 

Kittrell graduated from the University of Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a law degree. He and his wife, Sharon, have two children and two grandchildren.
