GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS LAWRENCE TO PEANUT PROMOTION BOARD

 

(JACKSON, Mississippi) — Governor Haley Barbour has appointed Clayton E. Lawrence, Jr., of Lucedale, to the Mississippi Peanut Promotion Board, which promotes the growth and development of the state’s peanut industry by research, advertisement promotions, and education and market developments.

 

“With an extensive background in agriculture, Clayton brings a wealth of talent to the board. I am confident he will do an outstanding job promoting Mississippi’s peanut industry in this capacity,” Governor Barbour said.

 

Lawrence has owned and operated Lawrence Farms for 20 years. A member of the George County 4-H advisory board, Lawrence serves as president of the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association and the George County Farm Bureau.

 

A graduate of Mississippi State University, Lawrence holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in genetics from the institution. He and his wife, Ashley, have been married two years; Lawrence has two children, Alicesyn and Camille.
