GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS BOSARGE TO COMMISSION ON MARINE RESOURCES
(JACKSON, Mississippi)-Governor Haley Barbour has appointed O. Steven Bosarge, of Pascagoula, to the State Commission on Marine Resources, which works alongside the Department of Marine Resources (DMR) to manage coastal resources including marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas.
“I’m delighted Steve has accepted this important assignment,” Governor Barbour said. “With his firsthand knowledge of Mississippi’s marine life as well as his nautical know-how, Steve will be a great asset to this Commission.”
Bosarge has owned Bosarge Boats, Inc. for 30 years, in addition to owning B&B Boats, Inc., a company he formed in 2001. He is a member of the Gulf of Mexico Shrimp Advisory Panel, and the DMR Crab Task Force, and also serves as a a Gulf and South Atlantic Fisheries Shrimp Gear Protocol advisor. A third generation commercial fisherman, Bosarge has served as a representative of the shrimp industry on international trips and conducts scientific gear testings for the University of Mississippi and Johns Hopkins University (Applied Physics Laboratory).
He and his wife, Sandra, have been married 29 years. They have three children, Leann, Stephanie, and Jessica.
