GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS MAVAR TO MISSISSIPPI COAST COLISEUM COMMISSION

 

(Jackson, Miss.)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Mark Mavar, of Biloxi, to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Commission. This commission promotes, develops, maintains, and operates the multi-purpose coliseum and related facilities located in Harrison County.

 

“I am proud to have Mark serve on this commission,” said Governor Barbour. “As a resident of Biloxi, he knows the value of this Coliseum to the region’s economy and will serve the citizens of the Mississippi Gulf Coast well.”

 

Mark Mavar is the President of the Biloxi Freezing and Processing Company, Inc. He has also worked for Munro Petroleum and Terminal Company and for Mavar Shrimp and Oyster Company, Inc. Additionally, Mavar has worked for the United States Department of Transportation for the Federal Railroad Administration.

 

Mavar attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and earned a Bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College. In 1993 through 1994, he attended the G.S. School of Gaming while participating in the Public Relations Training Program for Grand Casino Gulfport. Mavar is currently serving on the West Virginia Wesleyan College President’s National Advisory Council.
