GOVERNOR BARBOUR REAPPOINTS NEWELL TO VETERINARY MEDICINE BOARD

Governor Haley Barbour has announced the re-appointment of Dr. David Newell of Meridian to the Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine, which oversees regulations and guidelines for veterinarians.

"I appreciate Dr. Newell's continued commitment to the Board of Veterinary Medicine," Governor Barbour said. "His service and experience is very much appreciated."

Newell currently works at Till-Newell Animal Hospital and has been employed at the practice for 35 years. Newell has served as a former president of the Mississippi High School Rodeo Association and was the national director from Mississippi to the National High School Rodeo Association. He also serves as a board member for the Eastern Corriente Association.

Newell is a graduate of Meridian High School and graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine with a doctorate degree. He and his wife, Rita, have two children, Daniel Newell and Christy N. Pritchard.
