GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS CARRAWAY TO WATER RESOURCES ADVISORY COUNCIL

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Jim W. Carraway, of Brandon, to the Water Resources Advisory Council, which makes recommendations to the Governor and Legislature on management of the state's water and water-related land resources.

“With years of environmental and water management experience, Jim will be an excellent member of this council. I am glad he has accepted this important position,” Governor Barbour said.

Carraway served as director of environmental projects for Champion International for 10 years. He was a past member and chairman of the Mississippi Air and Water Pollution board and served as director of Mississippi Game and Fish under Governor Paul Johnson. In 1983, Carraway was chosen to be chairman of the Bipec-Impac board. Currently, Carraway is president of the Fox Bay Homeowners board and is a member of the Federation of Reservoir Homeowners board, Pearl River Water Valley Supply District, and Mississippi Manufacturing board of directors.

Carraway and his wife, Mary, have three sons and nine grandchildren.
