GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS THOMAS TO STATE REHABILITATION COUNCIL

 

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Michael D. Thomas, of Ackerman, to the State Rehabilitation Council, which works to integrate individuals with disabilities in the mainstream of American society.

 

“I am proud that Mike has accepted this position,” Governor Barbour said. “He has a true passion for promoting disability awareness and working to provide independence to individuals, regardless of their disability.”

 

Thomas has over 38 years of experience in education administration, workforce development, human resources, and management. Currently, he works as manager of Land, Government, and Public Affairs at North American Coal Corporation, a position he has held since 2002.

 

Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial education and an educational specialist degree in vocational education/administration from Mississippi State University. He received his master’s degree from the University of Arkansas.
