GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS DICKERSON TO ENGINEERS AND SURVEYORS BOARD
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Jimmy Dickerson, of Batesville, to the Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors. This board is designed to promote the public’s welfare by ensuring that each professional engineer and professional surveyor is properly qualified to practice in Mississippi. The board also regulates the practice of engineering and surveying in the state through its investigation and disciplinary authority.
“Jimmy is well-qualified for this position,” Governor Barbour said. “He has extensive educational and professional engineering experience, and I feel confident he will serve the people of Mississippi well.”
Dickerson has worked for the Mississippi Department of Transportation for 32 years and currently serves as District Engineer. A Licensed Professional Engineer, he is a member of the National and Mississippi Engineering Society. Dickerson is a member of the Batesville Exchange Club, where he served as the 2004-2005 district president. Additionally, he served two terms as president of the board of directors of the Child Abuse Prevention Center of North Mississippi.
Dickerson attended Northwest Junior College and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He and his wife, Betty, have two children, J.Q. IV and Jennifer.
