GOVERNOR BARBOUR REAPPOINTS NELMS TO BOARD OF NURSING

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the reappointment of Becky Nelms, of Brookhaven, to the Mississippi Board of Nursing, which oversees the licensing and practicing of nursing in the state.

“Becky has been an effective board member,” Governor Barbour said. “Her years of nursing experience combined with her performance on the Nursing Board make her well-qualified for reappointment. Becky will continue to serve the citizens of Mississippi well.”

Nelms, a Registered Nurse, has worked in the nursing field for 27 years. Though the majority of her experience has been in emergency medicine, Nelms has spent the past six years working in home health with Gilbert’s Home Health and Hospice. Her experience includes working on Governor Barbour’s Medicaid Transition team and Momentum Mississippi, where she focused on Mississippi Medicaid and the state’s nursing shortage.

She is married to Bruce Currie and has one daughter, Hillary.
