GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS HOOD TO COMMISSION ON PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SPORTS
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Carolyn Hood, of Madison, to the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness and Sports. This commission works to promote and improve the fitness of all Mississippians through regular participation in cardiovascular activities, such as sports.
“Carolyn’s experience in health-related organizations combined with her background in clinical training makes me confident that she will serve the citizens of Mississippi well,” Governor Barbour said.
Hood is a clinical therapist with the United Methodist Hour of Mississippi. Her areas of specialty include marriage, grief, addiction, trauma, family dynamics, parenting, adolescent issues, anxiety disorders and eating disorders. A trustee for Millsaps College, Hood is also a member of the board of directors for Baptist Medical & Dental Mission International.
She is a former board member for United Way of Southeast Mississippi; former board member for American Cancer Society-Hattiesburg; former board member for Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Inc.-Southern Region; and a former board member of United Methodist Hour of Mississippi, Inc. Hood is married to Warren A. Hood, Jr., and they have three children.
