GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS HUGHES TO MISSISSIPPI BUILDING CODES COUNCIL

 

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Haden Hughes, of Jackson, to the Mississippi Building Codes Council, which is designed to adopt electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire and fuel gas codes for buildings in Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, Stone, and Pearl River counties.

 

“Haden has years of experience in the field of insurance and knows firsthand the importance of having more unified building codes,” Governor Barbour said. “I am confident he will be a great asset and will serve on this council with the utmost concern for the well-being of coastal residents and their dwellings.”

 

Hughes is founder of the Underwriters Group, Inc., and has worked as an insurance underwriter at companies such as Allstate Insurance Company and Mississippi Insurance Managers. He is past president and director of the Mississippi State Rating Bureau, Mississippi Magnolia Chapter of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, and Jackson Rotary Club. He is currently serving as vice chairman of the Mississippi Surplus Lines Association. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Hughes is an accredit adviser in insurance (AAI) and chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU). He and his wife, Tish, have two children, Lea and Callender.
