GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS MULLINS TO STATE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Robert Mullins, of Raymond, to the Mississippi State Workforce Investment Board.  This board is designed to develop an integrated state workforce development system that aligns resources and more effectively and efficiently meets the demands of Mississippi's employers and job seekers.

“Bob has many years of workforce development experience that make him well-qualified to fill this role.  I feel confident he will be a great asset and will serve the citizens of Mississippi well,” Governor Barbour said.

Mullins is section manager of Training, Organization Development, and Communication for Nissan North America in Canton, where his responsibilities include coordinating appropriate and efficient use of state funding for workforce training.  Previously, Mullins worked as vice president for Economic Development at Hinds Community College, a position he held for 30 years.  While at Hinds, Mullins was responsible for business and industry training, community development, and college staff development.

He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial, educational, and architectural technology and a master’s degree in vocational education.  Mullins has also completed additional coursework at the University of Mississippi.
