STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR “OPERATION: STREAMLINE” LEGISLATION PASSES IN THE SENATE

“I am extremely pleased that the Senate passed the majority of my ‘Operation: Streamline’ budget plan today with a 33 to 16 vote. It takes strong leadership to confront our budget problems, and I commend Lieutenant Governor Amy Tuck and the Senate leadership for their unflagging support of this legislation. By ‘smart-sizing’ state government we are on the road to eliminating our $709 million shortfall and getting control of spending.”
