GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR FILLS COURT OF APPEALS VACANCY

(Jackson, Miss.) - Governor Haley Barbour today announced David M. Ishee will be his appointee to the Mississippi Court of Appeals (District 5, Position 2). Ishee, of Gulfport, will serve out former Judge James E. Thomas' South Mississippi post due to his recent death.

"The Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee has worked hard to ensure that a qualified, conscientious, and dedicated person fills this important post," said Governor Barbour. "David is a man of integrity and high moral character. I know that he will be an asset to Mississippi's judicial system."

Ishee has served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Gulfport since 1999. He practiced law for more than 14 years with Lang & Ishee law office and then joined Franke, Rainey & Salloum, PLLC in 2002.

Ishee is a graduate of the University of Mississippi's School of Law and the University of Southern Mississippi. He has served as president of the Jackson County Young Lawyers Division, president of the Jackson County Bar Association, and numerous other committees of the Mississippi State Bar Association. He also served for two years as Adjunct Professor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He is a member of Gulfport Rotary Club, Gulfport Business Club and the Bayou View Elementary School Parent-Teachers Association.

Governor Barbour's Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee, which reviews the qualifications of potential judicial appointees in accordance with Executive Order 914, found Ishee fully qualified to serve in this post.
