FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

First Lady to join traveling Jaguars in Natchez

Jackson, Miss.—Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), Division of Tourism announces that First Lady Marsha Barbour will meet up with the United Kingdom based Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club in Natchez on Monday, October 4th, to welcome them to Mississippi. The group, the largest Jaguar Club in the world with over 20,000 members, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. In commemoration, the group is traveling the Southern States of the U.S. from October 1-17th, bringing 55 Jaguar cars with them.

The club will make three stops in Mississippi—overnighting in Natchez on October 4th, a stop in Vicksburg on October 5th, and a stop in Tupelo on October 8th. The group plans to take as many scenic roads as possible on their tour and will be touring the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi.

While in Natchez, the First Lady will greet them at a reception from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dunleith Historic Inn, where ten of their cars will be showcased. The reception is sponsored by the city of Natchez, the Natchez Chamber of Commerce, and Dunleith Historic Inn.

After the reception, the group will proceed to a dinner at 8:00 p.m. at the Natchez Eola Hotel.

“Natchez is the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississippi River,” said Craig Ray, MDA’s Director of Tourism. “It’s fitting that this group will enter the state by crossing over this legendary river to a place so rich in history and character. We hope that their journey through Mississippi will be the first of many.”

The cars range from a 1929 Austin Swallow tourer to the latest Jaguar XKR, with almost every model produced represented, including 19 XKEs, and 12 XK Sports cars from the 1950s. The tour will go through Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Mississippi.
