CONTACT: Office of the Governor FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Governor Barbour Appoints Short to Real Estate Appraiser and Licensing Certification Board (Jackson, Miss.)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Jeff Short, of Tupelo, to the Real Estate Appraiser and Licensing Certification Board to represent the First Congressional District. This board acts to establish appropriate administrative procedures for processing of applications for licensure as a real estate appraiser, to issue licenses to qualified applicants, and to maintain a registry of the names and addresses of individuals who are currently licensed. “Jeff is well-qualified for this role,” said Governor Barbour. “He has extensive experience in this area, and I feel confident he will serve the people of Mississippi well.” Jeff Short received his Bachelor’s of business administration from the University of Mississippi and earned his Master’s in valuation sciences from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri. Short has thirty-three years of appraisal experience and has served as the Project Director for ten reappraisal and appraisal projects. He served as a college instructor of real estate and appraisal courses for Itawamba Community College; Short is also certified as a Continuing Education Instructor approved by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission and the Mississippi Real Estate Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board, teaching real estate law, appraisal law, appraisal of income producing property, and appraisal of single family residences. A member of the National Association of Realtors, Short has served as the President of the Northeast Mississippi Board of Realtors and Vice President of the Mississippi Association of Realtors. Short is a certified General Appraiser by the states of Tennessee and Mississippi; also, Short is a certified Tax Appraiser by the Mississippi State Tax Commission.
