Governor Barbour Appoints Alexander to Mississippi Forestry Commission (Jackson, Miss.)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Al Alexander, of Wiggins, to the Mississippi Forestry Commission. This commission is designed to provide leadership in protection, management, and information about the forests of Mississippi. “I am proud to have Al serve on this Board,” said Governor Barbour. “He has the forestry experience necessary to successfully and knowledgeably fulfill the duties of this position, and I am confident he will serve the citizens of Mississippi well.” Al Alexander works for DeSoto Timber, a family-owned business, where he is in charge of timber procurement and timber management. Alexander is a licensed member of the Mississippi Board of Registered Foresters; additionally, he is a member of the American Wood Treaters Association and Gideons International. Professionally, Alexander has served as past President of the Stone County Forestry Association. Alexander attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s degree in forest management. He is married to the former Stefani Taylor; together, they have one son: Aca Alexander. ###
